What's Happening in Summit County This October

October is one of the best months to be in Summit County. The summer crowds are gone, the aspens are doing their thing, and the mountain towns are about to flip from fall mode to ski season. There's more happening than most people realize. Here's what to put on your calendar.

 

Get Outside

Silverthorne Pumpkin Fest

Sunday, October 4 | 11am–2pm | Rainbow Park, Silverthorne | Free

Rainbow Park goes full fall festival for one morning every October. Pumpkin painting, mini train rides, bouncy houses. It's free, it runs from 11am to 2pm, and it's a great way to spend a Sunday morning with kids before the mountain air gets serious.

Fall Leaf Peeping

Early October | Boreas Pass Road, Breckenridge

Peak aspen color in Summit County hits in the first couple weeks of October. Boreas Pass Road out of Breckenridge is the classic drive. Golden trees, big mountain views, no lift ticket required. Go early in the month. The color window is shorter than people expect.

A-Basin Opening Day

Late October | Arapahoe Basin Ski Area | Date TBD

A-Basin is almost always the first Summit County resort to open each season, and it usually happens in late October. The 2026-27 date hasn't been announced yet. But when it drops, locals show up, there are donuts, and the season officially begins. Follow their socials so you catch it.

Live Music + Entertainment

Pink Fuzz Live

Wednesday, October 14 | 10 Mile Music Hall, 710 East Main Street, Frisco

High-energy rock at one of Frisco's best music venues. Pink Fuzz plays with special guests The Well. If you haven't been to 10 Mile Music Hall yet, this is a good excuse to finally go.

Dia de los Muertos & Latin Festival

October 16-17 | Breckenridge Arts District, downtown Breckenridge | Free

BreckCreate hosts this two-day celebration every fall and it's one of the most distinctive events on the Summit County calendar. Music, art, food, and community all in one place. Free to attend, right in the heart of downtown Breckenridge.

Halloween in Breckenridge

Late October through October 31 | Downtown Breckenridge

Breck takes Halloween seriously. The Backstage Theater runs haunted programming, Main Street businesses get into it, and the whole town has a certain energy that last week of October. Check BreckCreate and the Town of Breckenridge for specific listings as the date gets closer.

Lovers and Lore Book Club

Wednesday, October 7 | 6:00 PM | Summit County Library South Branch, 103 South Harris Street, Breckenridge | Free | Ages 16+

A monthly romantasy book club at the Breckenridge library. If you're into romance mixed with fantasy, this is your crowd. Drop in, no registration needed.

Lego Club

Wednesday, October 7 | 3:30 PM | Summit County Library, 37 Peak One Drive, Frisco | Free | Grades K-5

Drop-in building and creative play for kids in grades K-5. No registration, no cost. A solid option on a cold afternoon when you need somewhere to go.

Frisco Halloween on Main Street

Saturday, October 31 | 5:00-7:00 PM | Main Street, Frisco | Free

Main Street closes to cars on Halloween night and local businesses hand out candy. The Summit County Animal Shelter runs a dog parade at 5pm. Dogs in costume, on-leash. Very good. Frisco Historic Park offers free mini train rides every 15 minutes from 5:15 to 6:45pm. Easy, free, and the kids love it.

Planning Ahead: November
